About the Artist: Jason Beam has been working professionally in the field of digital illustration since 1995. Born and raised in Great Falls, Montana, he moved to Colorado in 1993 to begin his formal education at the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design where he studied illustration, including computer-aided and more traditional techniques. He then continued on to attend Platt College where he delved into electronic pre-press and graphic design programs. Currently, Jason lives and works in Montana. Jason Beam's life has been filled with devotion to art; operating his fine art studio, previously teaching at MSU in Great Falls, and being employed as an Art Director at a local Advertising Agency is testament that he enjoys delving in his work in all aspects of his life.
The nightmarish visions that Jason Beam creates are best described as “...sensual goth, elegant horror and cryptically surreal” (Pandora Magazine). The illustrative story-telling of classic macbre tales has etched Jason's style into the minds of many. His work has been featured in numerous publications, such as Peterson’s PhotoGraphic, Dark Realms, Digital Imaging, Obskure, Ravenous, Rue-Morgue, Design News Week and the Big Book of Photography. Jason’s talents have been displayed at Galerie Luna in Salem, MA, Echo Gallery in Chicago, The Dark Secrets Gallery in Philadelphia, the Renaissance 2K Travelling Exhibition, the 2000 & 2001 Cannes Film Festival, and his lovely “Joan of Arc” piece is on permanent display at the Centre Jeanne D’Arc Museum in Orleans, France.
Pre-Raphaelite artists such as Sir Frank Dicksee, John Collier, Charles-August Mengin and John Waterhouse inspire and stimulate the the depth of emotion that Jason portrays in his artwork. Gustave Doré, Pablo Picasso and Bill Watterson (Calvin and Hobbes) provide him with philosophical and ethical influences.
When time permits, Jason spends most of his free time with his wife, working on their historic home and cruising his hot-rod hearse.
